At the Czech Lion nomination announcements, Citizen Havel together with Petr Zelenka´s Karamazov Brothers received the Critics´ Award and oneCzech Lion nomination for the documentary of the year 2008.
Director Miroslav Janek took home the Trilobit Award for his contribution to documentary creation in 2008. His achievements include the documentary Confession of Katarina K, direction of photography in the Ghetto Named Baluty and Dry Mountain on the Way to Europe, and the final version of the movie Citizen Havel.
The picture was one of the winning films at this year´sCPH: DOX festival in Copenhaven.
The film has been nominated for the European Film Academy´s Prix Arte Award for the best European documentary. Take a look at the media reaction to this event in the Media/Review section, including a press release (in Czech), which mentions, among others, that Citizen Havel has alreadybeen viewed by over 160,000 spectator.
A DVD of the film will be released on October 20. Besides the picture iteslf, the disk contains English and German subtitles, Czech captions for the hearing impaired, and scene descriptions for the visually impaired. In addition, there are four scenes that did not make it into the 120 minutes long cinema version and photos from the premiere.
The European Film Academy nominated the film for its documentary film prize Prix Arte, and the European Parliament put forward Citizen Havel for the LUX award.

The hundred thousandth viewer, Mr. Pavle Matějíček, was welcomed in the Světozor cinema. The news has made its way to the Variety magazine. Congratulation. And thanks all the viewers.

The Viewer´s award and the Jury´s Special Mention Award at the One World (Jeden svět) festival.
During the festival One World (Jeden svět) the director´s cut 25 minute longer version of the film was presented. A discussion with Míra Janek and the editor Tonička Janková folowed.
